PERSONAL STATEMENT

I was able to choose this course finally after a long dilemma on what to study as transition from my +2 level to my college level was not flawless. When I started my first semester at the college, I didn't know what to do as everything was overwhelming and I was afraid if I couldn't do well competing with others. But gradually, I found the college quite interesting and exciting as I became familiar with the environment at the college with time.

I found the modules we studied at the college more interesting as we could learn more on different fields related to computing and it's applications .I found the beginning of the semester a bit difficult for me as computing was a new topic for me, since my knowledge to the computers was limited only up to the school level. The modules at the college provided the relevant knowledge on the fields related to computing.

During my study at the college, among the modules I found "Logic" more interesting as it aims to develops a range of mathematical techniques which included set theory, logic relations and functions.Throughout the semester I've stressed myself for good grades and this was possible for this module Logic ,which was one of the achievements for the semester.

"Study skills" was one of the topic which I found quite easy as we didn't have to give any written exams for the modules. This module boosted me with the confidence working in groups for the presentation. I got chance to learn more about the blogs and we created blogs and posted our academic achievement week by week. This module developed reflective learning and writing skills with the help of the Personal Development Planning (PDP).

Learning about the systematic solution of the problems in computers with algorithm and flowchart, use of the spreadsheets and databases in the module "Problem solving for IT" quite interesting as it provided me with the proper understanding about the use of these packages properly. I got the opportunity to elaborate my knowledge on the algorithm and flowchart which are the efficient problem solving tool for computing.

I was a bit afraid when I dealt with the module "Introduction to Programming" as I had limited knowledge in the programming. I thought it would be difficult for me to work through the module but unlike my thought I studied programming easily with the gradual flaw of time. I learnt programming with java which developed interest and confidence in using the Programming languages. We worked with BlueJ which was also one of the efficient tool we used to elaborate our knowledge and skills on the programming sector. Gradually, with time I found the topic to be more interesting as I experienced the way to be a good programmer solving simple Programming problems.

With the achievements and knowledge on the relevant fields of the modules. I got opportunity to flourish myself with the relevant knowledge to programming, broad knowledge for the spreadsheets and database packages.

Working with the coursework ,we were granted which carried our final grades was totally new and exciting experience to me Since, when I began my schooling I have only dealt with the final exams for the better results. Unlike the days at the school I found working on the coursework was a new experience which I  accomplished  successfully with the knowledge and skills I gained from the course which helped me a lot to understand many things and tackle the problems on the way in my daily experiences.

The course work granted to was based on the knowledge and applications we learnt throughout the semester. I was happy and satisfied working on the coursework with the use of the Spreadsheets and Database packages, use of BlueJ for the programming for the completion of the coursework.

Looking through the semester, I felt I grabbed golden opportunity studying the course as I was able to achieve the knowledge based on my experiences tackling the problems on the way to find the better solution to the problems. Working for the presentations in groups sharing the variety of ideas, knowledge among the group members made me delighted, as I was able to gather such experience working together in group.

Computing and it's applications in the world today have always fascinated me and for this reason I found the course more interesting .Since ,the beginning of my academic endeavors I wanted myself to be flourished as the good programmer with the proper implementation and use of the programming skills and experiences, I achieved throughout the whole semester. Utilizing the experiences and knowledge with the exploration of various paths for the successful future I would try to achieve my goal with my proper understating and knowledge.

Overall achievements & Experience

My college life at Islington started with the end in dilemma on what to study .At the end the conflict was ended and I chose to take the course for computing  at the university.Computing and application is utilized over the whole world and it is the reason I  took the course in order to enhance my future development.

Within  these few days at the college I got the opportunity to face the new experiences. The understanding and knowledge  I gained from the different modules can be counted as one of the important achievements I grabbed this semester. Dealing with the course works and tests for the different modules helped me to develop the feeling on self confidence inside me. I believe the knowledge and the understanding  we achieved during the overall semester will  act as the base for our further study in these fields.

The knowledge and the skills I achieved as a result of the experiences I have earned during this semester will surely help me for my career development.  Dealing with the people with the wide variation in ideas and knowledge   boosted  me with the feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment from the course .The achievements and the experiences being compiled together will surely create strong base for the further study helping in my future success and development.

At THE END.......

Past 12 weeks at the college ,a lot from the  been very precious to me .At the end of the semester, I've gained a lot from the college  college. I found the skills and the knowledge I gained during my days at college helped me to understand many things in my daily experiences.

At the very first step to the college, I used to wonder whether I could do well or not as I met with the different people with the confrontation in ideas and their extend of knowledge and opinions. But gradually, with the flow of time I began to feel comfortable and familiar with the environment t and meeting with the people with different ideas  increased the status of the knowledge and confidence inside me.

With the view and ideas of many people I was able to gather new experiences inside me which included the group presentation where I was able to increase the level of my understanding dealing with the topic and sharing the ideas among ourselves.Apart from this ,the subject matters which included the ideas on the programming and the use of different pacakages  like spreadsheets and datasheets made the semester more exciting  and interesting.

I believe that my skills and experience will add confidence inside me which will help me building the further steps for my future development.

INDIVIDUAL REPORT:SANDHYA POKHREL

Working in a group has never been my strong pursuit and when we were informed about our coursework which included the group presentation, I felt it would not be an easy task. We had to form the group of three students and as I had bonded with some of my classmates very well ,deciding whom to work was not difficult at all .However, the group was formed successfully, I was  equally worried as the group constituted the people with  different  ideas and knowledge.

I was satisfied with the group members and felt comfortable working with them as all of them were equally committed and focused on the coursework. Selection of the topic was quite difficult as the presentation on the topic had to be learning orientated. Finally, after a long discussion the dilemma for the selection of the topic came to an end and the topic was finalized as 'Problem solving' that would be based on computing.

The topic 'Problem solving' itself is vast and it would not be possible to cover all the areas related to it .As for the presentation  , to be made learning oriented we decided to be more focused on 'Algorithm and Flowchart' which is one of the efficient problem solving tool for the computers. Use of the sequential instructions for the algorithm and the graphical representation of the algorithm with the use of different symbols as Flowchart would make the topic more interesting.

With the selection of the topic, all of us started working together   with discussion of the format of the presentation of what contents it required and how would we represent it in an interesting way. We had  had the discussion on the division of the works so that we could accomplish our works on time. Apart from the discussion, the contents for the presentation were decided and the works division was done accordingly for the collection of the relevant information and images to be   included in the presentation so that we could bring the proper format to our presentation.

According to the division of the works among us, I had to collect the information that would give an introduction to problem solving and problem solving tool i.e., Algorithm and Flowchart. I took the help from the books and e-learning sources as for the collection of the information and managed the collected information in key points. The proper implementation of the images accordingly as per the information was done by Elisha and Oshan edited the slides with the proper format managing the use of the images and information required in an appropriate way.

The experience of working as a group was great as it was my first presentation as the group member. With the cooperative support and participation of the other group members the presentation was prepared successfully. The team work I found on my group was good, as the result of which we could present the topic more efficiently and clearly. The most important thing I achieved was to work as a group member .I found my team members energetic and cooperative and   I would choose them as my group member if the same opportunity comes on the way in near future.
